The protective air intake screen is an integral part of the mask,which is sewn on the exterior to ensure that there is no loose piece of material inside to abrade the paint surface. The covered aluminum tabs allows the adjustment at the fender wells as vinyl expands as well as contracts due to temperature. This mask is crafted using a micro-perforated finish on the vinyl that allows the mask to breathe and permit vapor to evaporate when the vehicle is driven in wet weather. It features a heavy-gauge leather grain vinyl which has a soft, protective backing that safeguards the paint surface of the vehicle. I purchased this for my 2003 Chevy S10 Xtreme. This truck has a front air dam that is easily cracked and cost lots of $$ to fix, so after breaking mine again.... I purchased this instead. The Bra fits very well, but is a little cramped where the hood meets the fender. It was super easy to install, you don't even need to read the instructions, it only fits 1 way!!! I do recommend letting it heat up in the sun for 20-30 minutes before you install (like the instructions recommend) so that its easier to strech over the bumper.
