I have installed mats with contact cement, it is harder and they eventually work their way loose. This product seemed high quality, good wet traction, easy to install, and no signs of adhesive failure after 1 use. It was a pain to clean off the old contact cement (I used paint thinner and many towels and elbow grease). But once the area was clean, it was easy to install by following directions. I removed about 3 inches of backing, folded it, then laid out the pads for alignment, attached the exposed 3 inches, then reached under to pull off the rest of backing, pressing down as i went. Stood on it in bare feet, paying particular attention to edges, to get good pressure. I got the parallel ribs, which ran perpindicular to the long axis. I might try a cross hatch pattern on my other ski to see if the grip is better. If I see signs of the product coming off, I will update review (shoudl get 10 uses by end of august).
